The Gungan Sub 7161 is a underwater ship from the Star Wars movie Phantom Menace and was released in 1999. The ship was featured in the scene in which Jar Jar Binks leaves the underwater palace of the gungan leader. The ship is not as detailed as the other ships in the LEGO set series but is very good none the less. The ship has been discountinued and cannot be found on the LEGO home page.

The ship features three mini figures which are Obi-Wan Kenobi (wearing a hood), Jar Jar Binks, and Qui-Gon Jin. The set contains exactly three-hundred and seventy five pieces but many times pieces are lost or left out. This set also come with a small underwater rock covered by two plants which is only for display and does nothing in particular besides and the underwater effect. You can fold back a panel to see a proper engine room and there are cockpits which allow you to see all of the mini figures.

There are some other design flaws in accordance with the movie, for example the cockpits are in the wrong positions. The engine also lacks the detail and tends to fall apart when moved about to much. These things can be easily over-looked when used as a toy but can be anoying when used as a reference to the original ship in the movie.

Over all this is a very good set for a child or someone looking for just a toy unlike others who take the crafting of the ship very seriously. The design flaws can be easily over looked when you are not doing a side-by-side comparison. It is not one of the largest ships made making it vary in price depending on retailer. If you are looking to buy it cheap I suggest looking on eBay and not stores because the major retailers know the age and rarity of this set.
