Star Wars #4 3343

The Star Wars #4 3343 LEGO set is from the Episode I: The Phantom Menace series. This collectible set was produced in 2000 and contains two Battle Droids and one Battle Droid Commander. There are only 4 minigure only sets, including Star Wars #4 3343. The collectibility of this set is only enhanced by information cards and display stands for each figure. The provided stands and cards together form a nice backdrop bearing the Episode I: The Phantom Menace theme.

The Battle Droid Commander and Battle Droids are all regular LEGO height, standing about an inch and a half tall. Each of the mini figures bends at the neck, torso, arms and legs. There were changes made to the Battle Droid figurines in 2008, though Star Wars #4 3343 dates back to the original body model. The Battle Droid Commander and Battle Droid figurines all come with a blaster colored black with a red tip. The Commander differs from the pair of Battle Droids by distinctive yellow markings on the head and chest. The Battle Droids carry backpacks that the Commander does not have affixed to its torso.

The Battle Droid Commander was a battlefield leader of the droids when in combat. These groups of fighters would generally ride into combat on Banking Clan frigates or star cruisers. The droids were directed through battle by the Commander, though all would enter combat accordingly. Battle Droid Commanders were placed under the direction of a higher general or leader, who would issue orders and directions from the base of command. These fierce fighters were prolific in the Phantom Menace episode, wreaking havoc on the battlefront with the aid of their sophisticated military vehicles and weaponry.

Only slight variations were made in 2008 to the Battle Droid mini figures from their initial production in 2000. Small concessions to the movement of the arms enabled gun toting more true to the CGI characters. The color scheme and composition of the LEGO mini figures are excellent representations of those in the film. Changes made to such a product can potentially increase the value and collectibility of those that were produced in the original line. There are not plans for any new mini figure sets to be produced as additions to this series.
